Master Chef Gas Grill Maintenance: Grill Like a Pro All Year

How to Maintain your Chef Grill | blog | chef.co.za

Maintaining your Chef gas grill will ensure that you can enjoy your grill throughout the year. A poorly maintained braai will not give you a good cooking experience. It can be dangerous to skip regular maintenance, too. If there is a build-up of fat and grease, there is a bigger risk of a fire hazard. Cooking with gas means that you don’t want to have any potentially combustible materials leaking from your braai. To help you keep your gas grill working properly, we’ve put together a guide on how to maintain your grill.

Maintaining Your Gas Grill

The following steps will help you maintain your Chef gas grill properly.

Cleaning the grill

A clean grill is a well-working grill. During grilling, fat accumulates on grids and drip trays. If these are not cleaned after the grill has been used, this turns into a build-up. This can pose a big safety hazard. Make sure that you remove and clean both of these parts using non-abrasive cleansers. You can also use the Chef Stainless Steel Cleaner to remove fat and keep the interior clean. You will need to clean the exterior, too. The Chef Stainless Steel Polish will prevent corrosion. When cleaning any part, make sure that you use new cloths before moving to the next part to avoid mixing chemicals. You will need to remove coils/heat collector panels and grills before cleaning.

Storing the grill

It is essential to store your grill somewhere safe, clean and dry, that is protected against wind, rain and other elements. You should only store your grill indoors if you have disconnected the gas cylinder and removed it from the grill. Wherever you store your grill, a cover is highly recommended to add an extra layer of protection.

Using & storing gas cylinders

Only use 9kg gas cylinders in your grill, with a 5/8” BSP left hand. The cylinders must match the supplied regulator. Cylinders must be stored upright in a ventilated, dry place that is away from sunlight or electrical sources. They should also be kept out of reach of children. When removing or attaching the cylinder, make sure that it is flat on the ground.

We hope that these tips help you get the most from your Chef gas grill, for a superior BBQ experience, all year around.
